Professor Geo von Krogh, a distinguished expert in the field of human papillomaviruses, and a dear friend and colleague to many, died in June 2008.

Geo was born and grew up in Bergen, Norway, with his parents and one brother and one sister. He studied medicine in the Bergen Medical School and in the late 1960s moved to Stockholm, Sweden, where he trained in dermatovenereology.

Geo was one of the first to recognise the inadequate and traumatic treatment of venereal warts and devoted much of his life to developing new, less toxic, treatment regimens and patient-centred follow-up routines.
