We would like to thank Richens et al1 for their excellent study on the effect of different methods of sexual history taking. This large randomised controlled trial (RCT) showed that traditional pen and paper history taking (using a standard proforma) identifies fewer sexual health risks than computed-assisted personal interview or computer-assisted self-interview. Identification of theses risks did not, however, lead to improved STI or HIV case finding. …
