The WHO estimates that there are around 340 million curable sexually transmitted infections (STIs) worldwide each year, with the highest prevalence being in South and Southeast Asia.1 STIs disproportionally affect the developing world due to social and cultural prejudices and practices and the non-availability of and lack of access to health services.
