2001, Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology, and EndodonticsCitation Excerpt :Presence of oral ulcers in a transplant patient should initially suggest a viral infection because oral ulceration of viral origin is a frequent finding in immunocompromised patients. It has been previously shown that viral infections are especially common among immunosuppressed patients such as HIV-positive patients16-18 but can also be seen in transplantation recipients.19-21 The ulcers described in this report resemble MAU in clinical appearance and biologic behavior.
