Introduction

The British Association for Sexual Health and HIV (BASHH) Specialty and Associate Specialist (SAS) Doctors group was created in 2000 in order to support a group of doctors working in genitourinary medicine departments. The group is well established with its own constitution and terms of reference1 and its membership consists of regional representatives and three main officers: the chairperson, the honorary secretary and the finance officer.

The group is heavily involved in the work of BASHH with representatives at the Board, Clinical Governance Committee, Education Committee and a variety of Special Interest Groups (SIGs), some of which are chaired by SAS doctors.
