BASHH/FSRH standards are used by commissioners/Clinical Commisioning Groups (CCGs) and NHS England to commission sexual and reproductive health services in England and inform commissioning decisions in the devolved nations. The FSRH/BASHH Standards for Online and Remote Providers of Sexual and Reproductive Health Services were published on 25 January 2019.
In response to increasing demand, resource limitation and a willingness of the public to engage with e-health, we have in recent years seen the development of online and remote health services across many areas of the National Health Service (NHS). Most sexual health/sexual and reproductive healthcare (SH/SRH) services already have an online presence advertising their location, which serves to signpost clinics as well as offer online clinical information. In addition many services have developed limited postal testing services to complement traditional face-to-face consultations. These services are set to grow and a number of innovative providers are already supplying a much wider range of online clinical SH/SRH care using a range of consultation methods, from real-time interactive healthcare via a video link …
