Histology of a mediastinal biopsy suggested infective follicular hyperplasia or a peripheral T cell lymphoma. Subsequently, Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection was demonstrated in lymphocytes in the biopsy. Later, hepatosplenomegaly and peripheral lymphadenopathy developed. Histology of a cervical lymph node biopsy showed EBV associated diffuse large B cell (non-Hodgkin's) lymphoma. ER -
