  • *N, number of samples provided by participants; S, number of assessable samples. *The number of samples collected may exceed the number of samples tested as the internal control was negative (because of inhibition of the PCR assay, degradation during storage or inadequate sample collection) in 2 urine samples (0.4%), 20 rectal swabs (3.9%), and 7 throat swabs (1.3%) for detection of C trachomatis; in 2 urine samples (0.4%), 14 rectal swabs (2.8%), and 5 throat swabs (1.0%) for detection of N gonorrhoeae; and in 6 (1.2%) rectal swabs and 4 (0.8%) throat swabs for M genitalium detection. Statistical comparisons for these data are presented in the results section.
