Herpes simplex virus type 2 (HSV-2) and its association with HIV, HCV, HBV, HTLV-1&2 and syphilis among men who have sex with men in Burkina Faso
2023, Indian Journal of Medical MicrobiologyCitation Excerpt :While HIV increases the risk of HBV and HCV-related liver disease progression [9] but the effect of HBV and HCV on HIV disease progression is unclear [10]. Nonetheless, there is evidence that the presence of HBV or HCV is independently associated with an increased risk of progression to AIDS and death [11]. Human T-cell lymphotropic virus type 1 (HTLV-1) is primarily transmitted through sexual intercourse or from mother to child [12].
